Mother Nature….Why? It’s supposed to be WINTER!!!!

As they say, if you don’t like the weather, wait a minute… Well, Mother Nature, we’ve been waiting, and waiting and waiting. What was an amazing weather start to the season, a blizzard, 20+ inches of snow, and amazing skier and boarder turn-out, turned into 4 days of rain, fog, and spring-like ski conditions, and AMAZING SKIER & BOARDER TURN-OUT!

First of all, Thank You to every one who has come out and skied with us for the last 8 days, it’s been great! Unfortunately, the weather has taken it’s toll on our snow and we have decided to suspend operations for Tuesday, January 3rd and Wednesday January 4th, 2023.

We are watching the weather and will determine opening status for Thursday as soon as possible. In addition, we are actively watching the weather for our next snowmaking window and plan a full assault on the hill. We will be ready to fire up our snowmaking system up as soon as the temperatures allow.

We look forward to skiing with you again very soon.

Rest up, do your snow dances, sacrifice some skis to ULLR, and get ready to join us on the slopes again very soon!

Look what Santa brought us, a new run!

That’s right, in the off season, Santa brought his elves to Swiss Valley for some off season training.
You see, the elves of the North Pole need materials for building all of the toys they deliver every year at Christmas. Santa knew that some of the best hardwoods come from southwestern Michigan, so he sent a few elves our way. Diligently selecting the perfect trees, these elves, got to work cutting brush and moving deadfall out of the way, sending many trees off to the North Pole for toy building material. Elf Jeff “Weezy”’drove the bulldozer and he and Elf Mike wielded chainsaws. Other elves saw what was happening and joined in, moving rocks and sticks, making it skiable. Elf Brooklynn particularly loves moving sticks (NOT).
What appeared after months of hard work was a clearing in the woods, just off the midpoint of Mountain Do. Elf Wheezy thought all the boys and girls would love to ski and snowboard through the trees and DEMANDED the area be opened for the fun of all! This new Black Diamond trail is called “Weezy’s Way” and winds through some gentle terrain, until taking a plunge out of the woods into the bottom of Mountain Do.
This new gladed ski run will operate during daylight hours and on natural snow for the 2022-23 season. Santa wants to caution all the thrill seekers that decide to play on this new run that natural obstacles exist and to take caution while enjoying themselves.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone from all of the elves at Swiss Valley! We can’t wait to ski with you on opening day!

OPERATIONS UPDATE: DECEMBER 22, 2022

OPERATIONS UPDATE:

Swiss Valley will suspend operations on December 23rd, 24th and 25th. Taking into consideration the well-being of our guests and staff, and our local emergency services, the slopes will not be open for skiing or snowboarding, this Friday, 12/23, Saurday, 12/24 and Sunday 12/25.

We will open for the season on Monday December 26th. Hours TBD.

All of Southwest Michigan is under a BLIZZARD Warning Thursday thru Sunday. This significant weather system may impact operations. Please check here, our snowphone and social media channels for updates before traveling.

SNOWMAKING HAS BEGUN!!!!!

What does it take to open a ski area? SNOW. What are we making? SNOW!!! We fired up our new and improved snowmaking system on Saturday morning at 8:30 AM. Pushing more water at a higher pressure is really paying off. Our older snow guns are doing better, and our NEW snowguns are absolutely HAMMERING it!

The weather is cooperating and it appears we will continue for at least the next 20 hours or so until we have to take a short break to wait for more cold air to work its way in.

BTW, have you seen the forecast? We are under a SEVERE WINTER WARNING with several inches to over a foot of snow expected by opening day….We couldn’t ask for anything better.

Ski you FRIDAY DECEMBER 23rd at 9:00 AM!
